It is important that wire rope spools correctly on to the winch drum during operation. Typically the fleet angle should not exceed 1.5° when being spooled onto the winch drum.

Rotrex can offer wire rope spooling gear as an option so as to overcome instances where the fleet angle is in excess of 1.5°. Rotrex wire rope spooling gear will provide provision for up to 10° of fleeting angle.

Rotrex spooling gear is designed to assist with correct spooling of the wire rope onto the winch drum via a roller box assembly. The roller box assembly is automatically driven across the winch drum by a reversible diamond lead screw which in turn is chain driven from a plate wheel mounted on the winch drum. The speed of the diamond lead screw is factory set by altering the ratio of the chain drive to suit the required wire rope diameter.
