From Mexico to Samoa

Persistence paid off for Rotrex Winches’ sales representative responsible for East Anglia when a deal was done to engineer and supply a used capstan winch .
“I have been visiting Curtis in Suffolk for some time. Back in November I invited him up to our Alfreton depot to meet Nick Colledge and have a look at some of our secondhand equipment currently stored on the land. He was very interested in a 10 tonne hydraulic capstan winch and a diesel power pack with which to run it.

“Curtis was pleased with the meeting and after showing him around our facilities, he was very impressed with what Rotrex could offer – workshops, engineers, equipment, etc, etc. I remained in contact with Curtis about his requirement, even though he has been working overseas in Mexico.
“Last week Curtis called to say that he had a new project out in Samoa pulling cables from island to island and would like us to supply him with the equipment we quoted. Unfortunately we only had one week to get it ready. As the capstan on the winch had ribs on it, which would cut into the 36mm polyprop rope he is going to use, we had to fill in between the ribs in order to achieve a smooth capstan. However, being resourceful as usual, we managed to complete all modications on time.
“We successfully despatched the equipment on time and it’s now being prepared for air freight to Samoa.”
Using extensive experience with winches of all types over around 40 years, Rotrex Winches has in stock or is able to source, many used products and refurbish or re-engineer them to suit customers’ needs.
