Rotrex Winches is having particular success supplying Omac 4 tonne trailer winches to ‘High Voltage’ divisions among its electricity supply contracting customers. In November 2009 one regular customer for both hire and sales, took delivery of their fourth brand new trailer winch.
The current Omac models are fitted with the latest DEG-M data read out device, which is proving to be popular with customers working in this industry. DEG-M displays in real time the pulling force, the length of cable and the stringing speed. It also permits the user to set a maximum pulling force to generate an alarm signal when the pre-set limit is reached. The unit allows the user to store the monitored data in the internal memory and to copy the data onto a USB flash memory stick. The data can then be transferred to a personal computer to be stored and printed at a later date. Alternatively a thermal printer can be attached to the DEG unit to allow them to print the data on site for their client.

Rotrex Winches and Omac will work with the customer to determine the exact specification required. On this latest purchase, the options included a water cooled diesel engine, 1000mtr of 12mm wire rope, anchor chains with shackles and a modified tool box that would accommodate the anchor chains and printer unit in its carry case.
The winch has now worked in the field for a couple of months and the new data system has impressed both operators and managers and Rotrex Winches have quoted for data unit upgrades to their other Omac winches.
