The Thompson Puma is a double capstan winch used for hauling and lifting. The range includes cable pulling and pipe renewal models.

The Puma is powered by a rugged diesel or petrol motor which develops a maximum pulling force through the set of dual head capstans, these can give a continuous pulling force of up to 20000kg.

The Puma comes complete with a dynamometer and an automatic regulator that limits the pulling force on the cable or the pipe during the pull. A synchronised spooling device ensures a correct unwinding and winding of the rope onto the storage drum. This range of winches includes "super Silenced" models ideal for use in residential areas.

The complete design incorporates a chassis base which is fitted with overrun brakes, and towing and lighting systems, in accordance with current EEC regulations.

As standard the Puma is enclosed in a sheet iron canopy, with telescopic ground anchors to provide stability during operation, a pulling force indicator, an operating hours counter, a meter counter, a line length indicator and a remote control device.
