Rotrex have successfully supported our longtime customer OnSite Rail Services with several OMAC trailer winches for the revolutionary HS2 project.

HS2 is a new high-speed railway system connecting Britain’s largest economic centers. This British-built bullet train will provide zero-carbon journeys between Birmingham and London, with connections to Manchester, the North West, and Scotland.

The construction of the line is already underway, with over 30,000 jobs supported by the project and more than 3,200 UK-based businesses involved in the building process. The system includes 140 miles of track, four new stations, two depots, 32 miles of tunnel, and 130 bridges.

The first HS2 services will start running between Birmingham Curzon Street and Old Oak Common in London between 2029 and 2033.

The Project

Our customer was contracted by HS2 to install UV liners, with weights ranging up to 26 tonnes in a variety of lengths and diameters. 26t being one of their biggest to date.

The Challenge:

Rotrex had to meet critical deadlines to ensure that the winches were delivered and positioned on time to each location. Due to the scale of the project, and the number of contractors involved, timing was of paramount importance to our customer.

The Solution:

Over the course of 8 months, Rotrex and Onsite Rail Services successfully synchronised the delivery of 10-tonne and 20-tonne OMAC trailer winches to four site locations across the UK.

Our team delivered the safety, quality and reliability required to ensure peace of mind with our customer and ensure no delays to the project.
